Liverpool sign winger Oussama Assaidi of Heerenveen

Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign Morocco winger Oussama Assaidi from Heerenveen subject to a medical.

Liverpool announced the deal on their official website, hours after manager Brendan Rodgers revealed two new players would probably sign before the weekend.

Assaidi, 24, scored 10 Eredivisie goals from midfield last season and comes as a direct replacement for Maxi Rodriguez, who returned to Argentina.

Born in Morocco but raised in Holland, the former De Graafschap wide-man has played 22 times for his country, scoring once.

New boss Rodgers has already signed Wales midfielder Joe Allen from his former club Swansea and Italy forward Fabio Borini from Roma.

Former England midfielder Joe Cole has also returned from a loan spell at Lille, although in addition to losing Maxi, Dirk Kuyt left for
Fenerbahce.
