Mikel Obi Removes Twitter Account After Racial Abuse

Nigerian forward and Chelsea midfielder John Mikel Obi has deleted his twitter account (@Mikel12Official) after he was racially abused on twitter for costing Chelsea their much needed victory in their Champions League opening fixture against Juventus at Stamford Bridge on 19th of September, 2012 which ended 2-2.

Chelsea's die hard fans immediately took to twitter to cast blames on Mikel for giving away the ball away 10 mins before time.

Even though he apologised initially to his fans he later deleted his twitter account when the racial abuse became too much.

‘If I want to make up an excuse, I can,’ he said. ‘But, for me, I gave the ball away. I put my hands up, we move on.
‘I’m sorry about the mistake, but there are no excuses.’ Mikel Tweeted.

Chelsea Calls Police:

Meanwhile, Chelsea Football Club has called the police, in their words:
“We’ve been made aware of racist tweets targeted at Mikel which are totally unacceptable, disgusting and abhorrent. We’ve informed the police and support taking the strongest possible action.” ChelseaFC

Ironically he was the best midfielder of the night but his blunder over-shadowed everything.
