Embassy of France in Nigeria to sponsor 5 Nigerians abroad every year

The Embassy of France in Nigeria has initiated a scholarship scheme to sponsor 5 Nigerians abroad every year.

In a statement in Abuja on Tuesday, the French Ambassador to Nigeria Jacques Champagne de Labriolle said the scheme was based on the need to contribute to the training of Nigerians in different fields and the country’s education sector.

The international scholarship scheme which is in collaboration with Total Nigeria Plc, is worth about 54, 000 Euros per student.

The statement noted that the Joint Scholarship Scheme (‘TQJS’) titled “Total E &P Nigeria Ltd. (TEPNG) /Quai d’ Orsay” would take effect from the 2012/2013 academic session.

However, the pilot stage of the scheme had commenced this year with one candidate sponsored to study International Law in France.
