Rick Ross Is ‘Good’ Following Shooting, Rapper Gunplay Reveals

After a birthday celebration turned into an attempt on his life on Jan. 28, Rick Ross is in good spirits, according to rapper Gunplay! Are you glad The Teflon Don’s handling the scary situation so well?

Rick Ross has had a scary week, to say the least. After celebrating his 37th birthday at LIV nightclub in Miami, FL, he crashed his Rolls-Royce into a building in Ft. Lauderdale on the morning on Jan. 28 while trying to escape a drive-by shooting meant for him! Gunplay, a rapper on Rick’s Maybach Music label says that he’s spoken to his boss and confirms that he’s “good”.

Gunplay told HipHopDX that he had spoken with Rick over the phone, stating that the situation didn’t take much of a toll. “He good, he good. Rozay is good, an. He’s unfuckwitable, man. It’s the untouchable Maybach, man. You don’t understand. It’s for real, for real, though.”

While Gunplay may be telling the press that Rick was unfazed by the shooting, but, according to TMZ, he’s decided to amp his his security to include 24/7 armed bodyguards — fearing the drive-by was less a random act of violence, and more a targeted attempt on his life.

It seems Rick is following the advice of several experts. One in particular, Kim Osorio, editor-in-chief of The Source magazine and hip-hop journalist, told MTV News, “I think this is a sad day for hip-hop because a lot of times we all partake in the entertainment of it, without realizing that hip-hop was always built on the foundation of realness and keeping it real.”

Having studied hip-hop music and its surrounding community since the ’90s, Kim believes that the drive-by shooting was no accident.

“There were a lot of people who had a problem with what Rick Ross was doing. Now we’re in a situation where the entertainment has become a reality. People are actually trying to hurt him and I think that’s sad for us,” she said.
